SAiling for all

You can get involved in sailing or help others by donating to any of the Charity's by clicking the "Donate now!" buttons at Virgin Giving. Else you could find your local sailability centre and volunteer or you could give the Even keel a go by visiting their website and seeing if they will be near you any time soon!

Phil Packer of BRIT sends this message - "Success comes by working together as a team. I ask those who can gift their support to give whatever they can to do assist in fulfilling the aspirations of those Young People facing Adversity so they take on their challenges with encouragement, opportunities and support. Together we aspire to provide a hub and a beacon of hope for Young People; a legacy that Great Britain can be proud of"

Disabled sailing

Even Keel and RYA Sailability offer sailing for persons of all sailing abilities and personal disabilities. Even Keel is a great sailing experience offering high performance sailing with their Artemis 20 keelboats and travel the UK with their fleet of yachts. My experience of working with the Even Keel Project has given me the strong motivation for this trip. The Even Keel Project seeks to make sailing available to all, regardless of ability, age, gender or background so that all people can have the opportunity to participate on a completely level playing field – hence even keel! There is a fleet of Artemis 20 keel boats at each of the Even Keel locations, they are designed and built to be accessible to all and can be sailed in various ways including the seated mode and the sip and puff mode. The boats are of black GRP and as well as being functional offer the experience of extreme sailing for all. I had the most fantastic experience at Cowes Week in 2010.

See the video for Even Keel Artemis Challenge at Cowes here (see Tom's interview from 6 minutes in)

RYA Sailability operates from numerous sailing clubs all round the UK. We are raising money for Sailability at my home sailing club of Langstone SC. To find the nearest Sailability centre near you click here
