Challenge ended at Langstone Sailing Club on 15:00hrs 3rd September 2011 after 1,700 nautical miles and 39 stops.
Thanks to all my supporters for making this challenge possible. I'm now aiming for the start line for the Ostar in 2013!
Welcome to the Tom Webb Sailing website. I believe sailing is a sport to be enjoyed and accessed by persons of all abiltiies.
I set off from Chichester on 2nd July to do a Round Britain Solo Challenge in 'Danera' - a 21' Beneteau First 211 sailing yacht - to raise funds for two fantastic disabled sailing charities: Even Keel and RYA Sailability (at my sailing club at Langstone).
I have been extremely lucky to have been mentored by Phil Packer founder of the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT). Phil Packer is one of the most inspirational persons I have ever met, who has an incredible personal mission with BRIT to create a centre of inspiration for disabled young people near my home in the Chichester area.
As a young person I want to challenge myself by drawing from the inspiration of the young disabled people I have met through the Even Keel sailing charity. They have challenges just in their daily lives but also strive to set themselves new goals.
Please support by donating to disabled sailing, or popping down to see me at any of my stops, or messaging me (email, twitter, facebook). Thanks! Tom

1st Leg: South-East England - went to plan with some fantastic spinnaker runs getting round to Ramsgate in no time.
2nd Leg: Eastern England - strong northerly winds slows progress with Danera unable to make headway against massive North Sea swells. A 22 hour passage to Grimsby from Lowestoft puts the trip back on track.
3rd Leg: North East England - after being storm bound in Grimsby, Danera makes good ground in testing conditions and I celebrate my 18th birthday in sunny Scarborough.
4th Leg: Eastern Scotland - after all the pots and salmon nets of the north east coast, the depth plummets, pots disappear, scenery and wildlife take over. Weather plays some nasty tricks but get round the infamous Rattray Head without much drama.
5th Leg: Caledonian Canal (half-way point) - just a memorable trip through some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery in the world! Loch Ness didn't disappoint.
6th Leg: Western Scotland - Weather comes good and Scotland just keeps on delivering! Dolphins, seals, puffins and a massive basking shark plus some cracking sailing ending with 10 knot spinnaker run to Northern Ireland reeling every boat in!
7th Leg: Northern Ireland & Isle of Man - travelled in 50 knot gusts from Glenarm to Bangor & hit a dead seal doing 11 knots - keel is OK. Seal seen better days. Left Bangor with an excellent spinnaker to the IoM. Tough leg to Holyhead through lumpy Irish Sea. Lots of shipping
8th Leg: Wales - Greeted by my Welsh family waving flags and Champagne to drink and spray over Danera! A lumpy old passages down Wales culminated in a fantastic sail to Padstow accompanied by hoards of dolphins, to be met by some of my Chichester mates - brilliant!
9th Leg: South West England to Home - Tough sail round Lands End gets me to Newlyn by 23:00hrs - phew! Good sailing past the most southerly point on the trip round Lizard Point to Falmouth; great sailing leg to my new home in 2 weeks- Plymouth! another top sail with the spinny out arriving 18:30hrs Dartmouth - very pretty! Back on the Solent again - weird! Shepards Wharf Cowes to meetup with family, then interviewed by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston (hero) on his BBC radio Solent program H20. Back home to a fantastic welcome at Langstone.
